Roof Cleaning Process

Roof Cleaning

1

Assess

First things first, we need to see what we're cleaning! We will assess the area, let you know what needs doing and then provide a quote for the work being completed. If you're happy then we will proced to the next step.

2

We start by removing all of the built up moss manually. This is a time consuming but essential part of the roof cleaning service. After all, the most unsightly thing on a dirty roof is that moss!

3

Soft Wash & Protect

Now that the moss has been removed, we can begin the soft washing process. This is a mixture of biocidal cleaner that kills bacterial contaminants plaguing your roof and making it look unsightly

Soft Wash Roof Cleaning

Soft washing is a type of cleaning that doesn't rely on the heavy handed approach that a traditional pressure washing system relies on.

This is essential when it comes to cleaning a roof since the last thing you want is to damage any of the tiles.

The lichen and algae will have been completely removed from your roof in just a few short weeks. We believe that this is the safest and best way to go about cleaning a roof.

Other Ways We Clean Your Roof

Sometimes, soft washing isn't possible due to bad weather conditions or sometimes the roof is too far gone and needs a stronger cleaning method to get the job done.

For that reason, we need to rely on alternative roof cleaning methods:

Pressure Washing

Contrary to popular belief, more often than not pressure washing is perfectly safe for your roof. We assess the roof before carrying out any pressure washing and set it to a lower setting to ensure tiles are not removed from their place. Our team always finish off with a soft washing chemical which acts as a protectant for the roof whatever the weather.

Manual Moss Removal

Oftentimes customers do not want or need a full deep clean of their roof and just want to maintain it and get rid of moss build up as it comes. We offer our manual moss removal service at a lower rate than our other methods since we don't need to apply any chemicals and the moss is not usually very bad when customers opt for this method.

Steam Roof Cleaning

Steam cleaning a roof is necessary when the tiles are not in the best condition and a customer needs instant results. It's a great way to get instant results without the worry of damaging your roof tiles.

We will always assess the roof first to make sure that the right method is picked for you based on your budget, roof tiles and timescale for results.

Why Remove Moss From Your Roof?

One of the more common questions we get is why remove moss from your roof at all? After all, it's on your roof and not in your home so what's the big deal? Well, as it turns out, it can end up being a very big deal for your home.

Reasons You Really Should Get Rid Of That Moss

Potential For Damp

One of the most alarming causes for alarm is that moss on your roof can mean damp in your home. Moss grows inside your tiles, separating them in the process. This can lead to gaps for water to enter your home.

Damage To Tiles

Tiles can not only be dislodged, they can be damaged beyond repair too. This leads to serious roof leaks which can cause structural damage to the inside of your roof. Your roof tiles will also discolour over time making them look withered and worn.

Gutters Constantly Blocked

Your homes water systems may get regularly blocked due to the build up of moss on your roof. This trickles down to your gutters and ultimately into the pipes, which in turn wreaks havoc on your homes repair bills.

Mould In Your Home

Mould and mildew can easily form inside your home through your roof. As previously mentioned, damp can get in through the roof. Warm moist areas are a breeding ground for mould. This is a very serious health hazard for you, your pets and your family members which would need a specialist cleaner, costing thousands.

  • How long until my roof looks clean?
The look of your roof will be improved anywhere between a few days to a couple of weeks. This time frame gives the chemicals a chance to work their magic.
  • What if it rains the day after?
In most cases this is not a problem. The rain may slow the process down slightly but it won't prevent the chemicals from working their magic. In the cases of extreme weather, we may have to come back and reapply the chemical (although I can't see why we would do this since we have a weather forecast!)
  • What Insurances do you have?
We have public liability insurance, professional indemnity insurance and employers liability insurance to make sure that we have all bases covered.
  • How long does the process take?
We are usually on site for an average of 5-6 hours.
  • Will the chemicals get into my gutter and on my plants?
No! We temporarily block gutters and protect your plants and other parts of your garden with a ground sheet.
  • How do I add a new question & answer?
To add a new FAQ follow these steps: 1. Manage FAQs from your site dashboard or in the Editor 2. Add a new question & answer 3. Assign your FAQ to a category 4. Save and publish. You can always come back and edit your FAQs.
  • Can I insert an image, video, or GIF in my FAQ?
Yes. To add media follow these steps: 1. Manage FAQs from your site dashboard or in the Editor 2. Create a new FAQ or edit an existing one 3. From the answer text box click on the video, image or GIF icon 4. Add media from your library and save.
  • How do I edit or remove the 'Frequently Asked Questions' title?
You can edit the title from the FAQ 'Settings' tab in the Editor. To remove the title from your mobile app go to the 'Site & App' tab in your Owner's app and customize.
